Business Intelligence Integration

Most companies believe that Business Intelligence
(BI) initiatives will give them critical answers to
business questions, allowing them to make better
business decisions, and improve customer service,
profitability, customer satisfaction, and corporate
governance.
The Good News:
This is in fact a true statement (IF you
understand how to integrate a BI solution into your
current system architecture as well as taking into account
your business processes AND integrate your Human
Assets into the equation.)
The Bad News:
Many of these BI initiatives fall short,
and in some cases fail altogether. This is due to several
factors:
-
Most companies have never undertaken a BI initiative and therefore do not know what to expect or how to plan for it
-
Most BI Software Companies are great technical resources, but fall short on understanding YOUR business, your processes, your systems, and your people and how to successfully integrate all of those factors into their software.
-
Many solutions lose sight of the initial goal of making it easy for the customer to answer business questions quickly and easily. BI Solutions, when not planned correctly become extremely complex with multiple moving parts that need to be continuously synchronized. In the end, making it just as difficult to maintain the BI solution as it was to previously get the data manually.
-
Understanding the whole picture. Unless you work with a true integration company, one that understands both your organization and business intelligence applications, you generally are not given the whole picture up front, leading to additional costs for software, increased consulting fees, or both.
